Independent insurance agents can use AI to match the speed and convenience of direct carriers while keeping their advisory edge.

Direct carriers have been eating into independent agency market share for years. The pitch is simple: go online, get a quote in minutes, buy a policy without talking to anyone. For a certain type of customer, that's exactly what they want.

You don't need to overhaul your entire operation. Start with the areas where you're losing to direct carriers:

Simple quoting. For personal lines auto and home, explore tools that can provide quick comparative quotes online. Let prospects start the process on their own terms.

After-hours access. Give clients a way to get answers to basic questions when your office is closed. Even a well-built FAQ chatbot helps.

Each of these improvements makes your agency more competitive without changing what makes you valuable in the first place.
